Neighborhood
Living on West 85th Street.
The Upper West Side is New York at its most livable — leafy side streets, limestone and brownstone blocks, a working Greenmarket, two parks at each end, and a long, deep cultural bench. West 85th Street sits at the middle of it: a quiet residential block between Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway, one block off the Columbus commercial strip, two blocks from Central Park’s 86th Street transverse.
Much of what defines the neighborhood is close enough to walk to. The 1 train, the B/C, the museums, Lincoln Center, Zabar’s and Barney Greengrass, the Hudson River Greenway — all within a ten-minute radius. In summer, the roof deck and Central Park do most of the work; in winter, the cafes take over.
Parks
Central Park & Riverside Park.

Two blocks east, Central Park’s 85th Street entry leads into the Great Lawn, the Reservoir, and the Delacorte Theater. Two long blocks west, Riverside Park runs along the Hudson — a continuous run and bike path from the West 70s into the West 100s. Residents tend to default east in the morning and west in the evening.
